I watched this film over 30 times when I was around 20. I remember every scene, every dialogue, every transition, every moment when the OST begins. It struck me deeply in the heart almost every minute, making me burst into tears or struggle to breathe. But over 15 years later, I watched it again and felt it was plain and no longer resonated with me. On the bright side, I still have my "Akari" by my side. We went through our toughest times around 20 years old, but we made it through, got married, and understand each other better than ever. We are still happy together. However, I can't help but feel that life has its cruel side, as no matter how strong and deep your feelings are, they fade away with time. btw, I still love the OST. The feeling of music lasts longer.

I am writing this comment right after watching this anime. This incredible story has sunk into my soul, as I have a very similar situation. My dear friend is hundreds of kilometers away from me, and all because I transferred to another school, far from my city. We write to each other, we call each other, but nothing can replace live communication. Now I haven't seen him for a year and a half, although before that we saw each other on vacation. I also want to say that it cuts my heart that I can't say words of love to him, because... What if he turns away? Few months back , I told my best friend that I feel like I am like Takaki , he asked why , I could not answer him but now I know I was right , I had feelings for this girl (let it be Girl A) , deep feelings since I was 10 years old , she was in my class and for next 7 years we were in same school , I always had feelings for her but I never told her , when I was 16 years old I was in 11th standard , I became a jerk and proposed the best friend (Girl B) of Girl A even though I had feelings for Girl A still , she declined me and blocked me cause I was that messed up that right after she rejected me I asked her to set me up with some other girl , she blocked me and then months passed I realised what happened (it was like my usual self returned) , I was deeply regretted I still had feelings for Girl A but I thought to myself I will not tell my feelings to Girl A cause of what I did to her best friend (Girl B) , I passed school a year later and still did not told Girl A , I wanted to seek apology from Girl B first , for next 4 years I tried to change myself but still had feelings for Girl A , I just wanted to be with her and see her happy , I decided to tell Girl A about my feelings but before that I thought I will talk once again with Girl B (I had already apologized from her before deciding to confess to Girl A) , I wanted to tell Girl B that I always had feelings for Girl A and I was sorry for hurting her. I did and told Girl B everything and also told her that I had feelings for Girl A , she forgave me but said that Girl A is her best friend and told me not to confess my feelings to her as she already have someone in her life and she is so happy with him , Girl B said to me to move on and find someone who is made for me. So I ended up like Takaki , I am still living in past.

It hits hard knowing that Takaki and Akari would be in their 40s by now. Makes you wonder what they're doing in life after overcoming those events.

For a long while now, this piece always hurt. I know I was the one who ended our relationship. But I was young and had so many aspirations, and I couldn’t take you with me, I wish I could have. It hurt to leave you. For years it hurt to think about you. You were the one, I cared so deeply for you. You understandably cut me away from your life. I hurt you. I know I did. And it still hurts me to this day 14 years later. We moved on, but I still wonder…. How you are, how your family are, what you are doing…. What if…. But now when I listen to this music, I think back to the happy memories and how they made me feel. And it doesn’t hurt so much anymore. You will be my beautiful distant memory.

I'm in third semester now. I have started learning django web framework. I have learned basic html, css, python, git, github etc. I went through my old comments and realized life was simpler back then. Now I am learning all day about programming and college stuffs. Btw, I finally got time to watch monster. It's like slow entertainment. Never fails to amaze me. 😊

This soundtrack always reminds me of the anime I watched over a decade ago, and also reminds me of my first ever love. She immigrated to the US and now has a family, I also have mine and moved on, but she will always have a special place in my heart.

I seriosuly cry anytime i hear this, i just cant avoid crying when i hear it, the train, the symbolism. The emptiness...god its unbearable.

This movie really hits home for me. In high school I had a friend named Katie who moved to NY from South Carolina. One night while we were all hanging out at my friend’s house she was on a call with a couple of her good friends from Carolina. She decided to put me on the phone with them and that is when I met a girl named Anna. It only took one phone call to start something between us. Later that year just after Christmas Anna and her sister came to NY to visit Katie. We all got together and I immediately fell for her the moment I saw her. We all had a snowball fight and I accidentally nailed her in the face with one. She panicked a little because her face was cold. I told her to take her gloves off and warm her face with her hands. She just kept trying to wipe the snow off with her gloves on, so I took mine off and put my hands on her face. The way she grabbed my hands and rubbed them all over her face was the cutest thing to me. Before she left to go back to Carolina she must have taken my phone at some point. Because when I looked at it the background said Anna<3 and had put her number in my phone. We texted for a little over 2 years but eventually fell apart because we never got to see each other. Fast forward to college. It was spring and I was headed back to NY from vacation in Florida. I got into contact with her sister to see if they were doing anything. I wanted to stop in SC on the way back to see them. She told me they had a softball at the time I would be there but she also said to try to make it before the game and surprise her. When I got to the field and saw her all of those feelings rushed back. When she saw me she immediately dropped all of her gear and sprinted across the field. When she got to me she jumped on me and hugged me tighter than I’ve ever been hugged before and since. I held her for so long in that moment. I remember seeing tears in her eyes and having the biggest smile at the same time. I was speechless. That was the Mimi should have told her how much I loved her. I should have told her we should try again and I would visit her as often as I could. It wouldn’t be just in texting like it was before. But I couldn’t say anything. I just held her and smiled. She is the one that got away but I will never forget how perfect each moment with her was.
